RVTC to Host Career Fair to Inspire Aspiring Technicians

The Rundu Vocational Training Centre (RVTC) is hosting its annual open day career fair today, and is a platform trainees to demonstrate their technical skills to the public and secondary school learners.

The idea is to bring the community together to explore possible opportunities to benefit many more young people. “We planned an open day career fair and everybody in the community, region and country is welcome to come and see what we are doing here at the centre.

We are offering what we do at the Rundu Vocational Training Centre, because some people don’t know what happens here. So we use this opportunity for exposure to the community,” says Milton Mwiya, the event organiser. The exhibition is ideal for leaners currently in secondary schools who would like to pursue vocational training and education.

“This will guide them on what fields of study they should go for after Grade 12. Parents should also come and see what their children can enrol in and those that have their children here to see what they are doing,” said Mwiya.

The exhibitions end in the afternoon with a music bash with artists like Gazza, Dj Globe, and Bsquare.

The RVTC currently offers seven fields of study on a part-time and full-time basis. Thecourses are auto electric, auto mechanic, general electric, brick layinglastering, plumbing amp pipe fitting, office administration and joinery amp cabinet making. Welding is currently offered only on a part-time basis, but plans are underway to offer it full-time.
