Samba Cracker Gives Oshana Victory

Oshana went to the top of Group B after a great goal by Philemon Samba one minute from time, gave them a hard fought 1-0 victory against Erongo on Saturday.

The teams were both undefeated going into the match and they weighed up evenly from the start.

Oshana winger Martin Valombola shot wide after an early attack, while at the other end, Erongo midfielder Herman Kalimbo also shot wide.

Midway through the first half Erongo midfielder Mutero Mutero had a cracking shot tipped over for a corner and just before halftime, Oshana midfielder Petrus Sakaria went on a great run past three defenders but shot over the bar.

The second half was characterised by a dour midfield battle and only lit up in the final stages of the match.

Oshana won two free kicks in quick succession and both were good efforts by Petrus Sakaria which were well saved by Erongo keeper Martin Humphries.

Oshana went on the attack in the final minutes, and after Petrus Shivute headed narrowly wide from a Sakaria cross, they finally found the net when Philemon Samba unleashed a cracking shot from the edge of the box that hit the roof of the net.

Erongo midfielder Luciano Fischer won the man of the match award.
