Security guard Namibian Police custody after being denied bail for allegedly assaulting and forcing a minor boy to lick blood flowing from his son’s head

KATIMA MULILO: A 33-year-old security guard is in the custody of the Namibian Police after being denied bail for allegedly assaulting and forcing a minor boy to lick the blood flowing from his son’s head.

Boniface Sichembe, who is facing charges of assault to do grievous bodily harm, on 06 May allegedly beat up an 11-year-old boy who is said to have fought with his eight-year-old son.

Sichembe reportedly also forced the boy to lick blood from his son’s head after the younger boy sustained a head wound during the fight.

The incident occurred at the Katima Mulilo base compound where the two minors, whose identities are being withheld due to their ages, were involved in a fight which left Sichembe’s son with a deep wound to his head.

On Friday, during Sichembe’s first court appearance where he pleaded not guilty to the charges before Magistrate Karl Muyeghu, the court heard how he was alerted of the fight by neighbours, who told him the identity of the boy who had allegedly hit his son with a bottle.

The matter was postponed to 15 May, when Sichembe will be cross-examined after he denied hitting the boy several times.
