Shortened Shakespeare Not to Be Missed

The Namibian Theatre Initiative presents the phenomenally popular parody ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare’ in the car park of the College of the Arts Theatre School this coming weekend.

‘The Complete Works of Shakespeare’ is a hilarious, fast-paced frolic through Shakespeare’s extensive playbook. The impressive cast of Helouis Goraseb, Nelago Gloria Shilongoh and Ndinomholo Ndilula, weave their wacky way through Shakespeare’s comedies, histories, tragedies and some others in one wild evening as directed by Sandy Rudd.

The play, written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1987 and has been one of the world’s most performed stage parodies for the last 27 years.

“We took Shakespeare, we enjoyed Shakespeare, we summarised Shakespeare and now we’re bringing (an abridged) Shakespeare to you!” says an excited Rudd.

This unmissable show will be staged under the stars as a pop-up theatre will be set up in the College of the Arts parking lot. Bring along a cushion or camping chair and come enjoy this brilliant parody performed by arguably one of the gest casts of theatre practitioners in the country.

‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)’ will be staged on 2, 3 and 4 October 2014 at 18h30 and will run for about two hours with an interval. There will also be delicious kapana available.
