Sinimbo Appointed New Youth Ministry Permanent Secretary

GABRIEL Sinimbo has been appointed permanent secretary of the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, taking over from Peingeodjabi Shipo, who was appointed Namibia’s high commissioner to Nigeria last year.

Sinimbo, who was acting chief regional officer for Kavango West, landed the ministry’s top administrative job ahead of veteran sports administrator Vetumbuavi Veii, who is the director of sports in the ministry.

Veii had been acting permanent secretary since the departure of Shipo.

Apart from Veii, Epsom Jossop, a former employee of the Keetmanshoop municipality, who is now a human resource manager at retail giant Edcon, was also in the running.

Before his appointment as permanent secretary, Sinimbo was tasked with the responsibility of setting up the newly established regional council in Kavango West.

Prior to that he worked as the director of planning in the Kavango Regional Council. Sinimbo has also worked in the private sector where he held managerial positions.

He holds a Masters degree in international business, and undergraduate qualifications in public administration and marketing. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in public administration.
