SKW to Compete in German Youth Tournament

SKW’s Under 19 soccer team left for Germany this week to participate in an international youth tournament in Velen.

The team boarded a flight to Germany on Monday night and arrived the next day at Cologne airport. From there they were taken by bus to Velen in the vicinity of Munster and Dortmund.

The 10-day tour will include a couple of practise matches and a visit to the Westphalia Stadium in Dortmund where the players will meet local soccer personalities. The SKW delegation will be hosted by the Velen U19 players and their parents.

The 13th international youth tournament will be played from 23 to 25 May.

SKW were drawn in Group 1 together with hosts TuS Velen 1925 e.V. (Germany), Evergem (Belgium), Malvik Idrettslag (Norway) and DJK Coesfeld (Germany).

Group 2 consists of Ballinasloe (Irland), Gieraltowice (Poland), Haaksbergen (Netherlands), SV Koumlnigshoven (Germany) amp SuS Hochmoor (Germany).

“We are looking forward to having an African team on board for the first time in the 40 year history of our tournament, which is played every three years,” said Andreas Luumlbbering, Director Youth Department of TuS Velen.

The contact was made when Claus Heinze from Velen was hosted by the youth division of SKW.

The SKW delegation is as follows:

Stephen Aochamub (head coach), Briaan Isaacs (technical assistant), Klaus Luumlhe (manager) and Ville Kivimaumlki (assistant coach).
