Southern Stream First Division Playoffs This Weekend

Keetmanshoop will this weekend host the promotional play-offs for the Southern Stream First Division League (SSFDL).

Five regional clubs representing Khomas, Hardap, Karas, Erongo and Omaheke will vie for the three places in the SSFDL for the 201415 season at the J Stephanus Stadium.

Last season’s SSFDL winners Citizens Football Club (FC) and runners-up Rebels FC were promoted to the Namibia Premier League (NPL) for the 20142015 season. A third spot is now also available for first division promotion instead of the usual two.

A statement availed to Nampa by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) on Thursday said matches will start at 08h00, with Brazilie FC of Karas taking on Flamingoes from the Hardap Region.

This will be followed by an encounter between Young Africans from Omaheke against 2014 Biest Namibia Cup quarter finalist Kaizen Football Academy (KFA), representing the Khomas Region.

At 12h00, the Erongo Region’s Northern Stars will take on Brazilie FC before Flamingoes and Young Africans meet at 14h00 to be followed by another play-off match between Kaizen and Brazilie at 16h00.

At 18h00 on Saturday, Young Africans will return to the action to face Northern Stars, while Flamingoes and Kaizen will close off the day’s proceedings at 20h00.

On Sunday morning, the action will resume at 10h00 with KFA opening the proceedings against Northern Stars, while at 12h00 Young Africans will take on Brazilie.

The final play-off match will be at 14h00 between Stars and Flamingoes.

Three points will be awarded for a win and a point for a draw. The top three clubs will then be promoted to the 201415 Southern Stream First Division League season, replacing relegated Celtics from Swakopmund and Young Beauties from Keetmanshoop.

The North East and North West First Divisions promotional play-offs are anticipated to take place two weeks from now, and the NFA said it was working hard to secure stadiums for the play-offs.
