Stephanus Big Winner At MTC Premiership Awards

Black Africa winger Willy Stephanus was the big winner at the MTC Premiership Awards ceremony on Friday night.

Stephanus won two prizes – the MTC Premiership Player of the Season award as well as the Players Player of the Season award to walk away with a total of N$50 000 in prize money.

Stephanus received N$30 000 after beating Hendrik Somaeb of Blue Waters and Brian Gurirab of Orlando Pirates to the Player of the Season award, and N$20 000 after beating Somaeb and Protash Kabwe of Tigers in the Players Player of the Season award category.

Blue Waters’ midfielder Somaeb won the Goalscorer of the Season award after finishing as the top marksman with 17 goals in 22 matches. Somaeb received N$15 000 for the award.

Black Africa coach Brian Isaacs won the Coach of the Season award after leading Black Africa to an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premiership title. Isaacs received N$20 000 for the award.

Civics midfielder Wangu Gome won the Young Player of the Season award, beating Volten van Staden of Eleven Arrows and McBride Ndjavera of African Stars to the N$5 000 first prize.

Martin Ndara of the Kavango region won the Referee of the Season award to the value of N$10 000, while Mathew Kanyanga won N$5 000 as the Assistant referee of the season.Comment on this article

The Chairman’s Award of N$30 000 was received by Jackey Gertze on behalf of the UnicefNFA Gals and Goals Football Development programme.

Black Africa received N$1 million as the league champions.
