Successful Return to PTA Tennis Series

The PTA Tennis Series celebrated a successful return to action during the third tournament of the season last weekend in the capital, with 21 players making their way to the Windhoek High School tennis courts to battle it out for top honours. The mini category saw Jamilla Hungamo celebrate her second win in succession to take over at the top of the table. With the absence of Hungamo’s biggest rival to date, Eila Kambonde, the second place went to Jozikee Tjaimba while Rejoice Nawases had to settle for third.

In the beginner’s category, Alwera Smith celebrated her first win in emphatic fashion. She edged past Faith Kahuure and Delicia Dirkse, who had also been in contention for the top spot during the first two events.

Kahuure and Dirkse made second and third place respectively. Meanwhile, Cleet Farmer won the intermediate category ahead of Mike Kambonde and Brandon Maasdorp. Maasdorp had won the two previous events and he is expected to come out guns blazing in the next tournament.
