Swabou Takes Four Months to Cancel Policy

THE Namibian Consumer intervened in a case in which a Swabou policy holder has been battling for four months to have her five policies cancelled.

This resulted in MMI Holdings Limited’ the parent company of the insurance services provider promptly refunding the disgruntled client this week.

On Friday last week, Euthymia Ekandjo who is based in Oshakati complained to the Namibian Consumer that she had been trying for months to cancel the five policies but with little success. Swabou was deducting N$900 per month from her account for the policies. But within two days of the Namibian Consumer inquiring about the delays with MMI, the company quickly contacted Ekandjo and refunded her N$3 510 for the over-deductions.

Before approaching the Namibian Consumer with her problem, Ekandjo said she had written several letters to MMI but the company had not responded.

Talitha Jario, MMI group communications specialist, said Swabou had received the cancellation request and “humbly apologises for not cancelling the policies on time as requested”.

“The refund will be effective from the date the request was made,” said Jario.
