Swapo office at Oshakati broken into

OSHAKATI: Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a break-in at the Swapo-Party regional office for the Oshana Region at Oshakati over the weekend.

Sergeant Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Public Relations Unit in the region told Nampa on Monday the suspects were arrested in the Oshakati area late on Monday afternoon.

“There are three suspects and only one is still at large,” Aiyambo explained, adding that the suspect who is still on the run is known to the police and it is just a matter of time before he is apprehended.

A computer stolen from the Swapo-Party office has been recovered.

The party’s coordinator in the Oshana Region, Erastus Kapolo told Nampa in an interview on Monday the office was broken into twice – on Friday and Saturday.

“On Friday they only got into the boardroom, and it was only on Saturday that they managed to forcefully gain access to my office, the administrator’s office and the office of the youth league secretary,” he said.

The stolen goods worth N.dollars 8 827 includes cash; 24 chairs; 10 Swapo-Party constitution books; party stickers; T-shirts and other garments.
