Swapo-Party govt will continue to maintain national unity, peace and stability as cornerstone for democratic governance: Hifikepunye Pohamba

WINDHOEK: The Swapo-Party government will continue to maintain national unity, peace and stability as the cornerstone for democratic governance, party president Hifikepunye Pohamba says.

Speaking during the party’s last star rally at the Sam Nujoma Stadium yesterday, he said the government will continue to concentrate on bread-and-butter issues which affect the daily lives of the Namibian people.

Here he was referring to among others education, health care, housing and sanitation, potable water, and electricity.

The rally was in view of the Presidential and National Assembly elections slated for next Friday.

He said that as part of the Swapo-Party’s strategy to achieve the country’s National Development Plans (NDPs) and Vision 2030, the government allocated substantial resources for the expansion, modernisation and maintenance of physical and communication infrastructure.

Pohamba said Swapo has a solid track record in governance and service delivery, and will continue on these achievements in order to further improve the living conditions of all people.

He noted that with the support of all Swapo members, their party and its presidential candidate Dr Hage Geingob will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.
