Swapo-Party office burgled and cash and equipment valued at over N.dollars 140 000 taken

RUNDU: The Swapo-Party office here was burgled yesterday evening, and cash and equipment valued at over N.dollars 140 000 were taken.

The thieves allegedly gained entry to the building by breaking open the burglar bars and a padlock on the entrance door.

Swapo coordinator for the Kavango East Region Johanna Kandjimi told Nampa today the suspects then broke into her office, as well as the secretary’s; elders’ council; Namibia Food and Allied Workers’ Union (Nafau); and the Metal and Allied Namibia Workers’ Union (Manwu), all housed in the same complex.

She said a case of theft was opened with the Namibian Police Force (NamPol).

The coordinator said the office is now in need of both financial and material assistance to replace the broken doors and equipment.

NamPol’s acting crime coordinator for the two Kavango regions, Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo today confirmed that such a case was reported, saying no arrest has been made yet.
