Telecom Namibia Main Sponsor of Africa Indoor Cup

THE Namibia Hockey Union (NHU) on Thursday announced that Telecom Namibia had stepped in as the main sponsor for this weekend’s Africa Indoor Hockey Cup against South Africa with a sponsorship of N$256 000.

In a joint media statement with the Namibia Hockey Union, it states that Telecom Namibia has already established a firm relationship with the NHU through support over the years with the most recent sponsorship being a three-year N$600 000 deal to run the National Field and Indoor Leagues, which was signed in 2013.

“The Indoor Hockey World Cup Africa Qualifier tournament is regarded as one of the most exciting tournaments on the hockey calendar. Therefore, Telecom Namibia and tn mobile are proud to be associated with the great tradition of the Africa Indoor Cup,” said Oiva Angula, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Relations.

“As sponsors we are immensely pleased with how hockey has progressed in Namibia and the continent at large. The Namibian teams have great chances to represent us at the Indoor Hockey World Cup 2015, thus putting Namibia on the map once again,” Angula said.

Telecom Namibia Acting Head of Marketing, Calvin Munisaswa, attended the handover of national colours to the senior men and women’s teams on Wednesday night.

The men’s side will be captained by Russel Bartlett and the women’s side by Andrea Grogli. Umpires from South Africa have been appointed by the Africa Hockey Union as well as two neutral umpires from Belgium and England.

Tashia Kalondo, Vice-President Women of the Namibia Hockey Union expressed her appreciation to Telecom NamibiaTN Mobile.

“Telecom Namibia and TN Mobile’s commitment to the game of hockey in Namibia has been extraordinary and the Namibia Hockey Union is extremely grateful and looks forward to a long, rewarding relationship going forward. For Namibia to be able to host this tournament on home soil for the first time ever will give our teams the best opportunity to qualify for the World Cup in Leipzig, Germany in 2015. We call on all Namibians to come and support this event and our national players”.
