Three suspected armed robbers arrested

OTJIWARONGO: Three suspected armed robbers were yesterday afternoon arrested at the Five Rand informal settlement in Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa Region.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Police Chief Inspector, Brendan Maikudumu told Nampa in an interview today that the suspects’ Toyota Corolla was also impounded the same day.

Maikudumu said the three men, aged 34, 30 and 34, are suspected to have been part of the five armed persons that robbed the Puma Service Station Shop at Okahandja on Tuesday morning.

He said the five men had at approximately 02h30 entered the Puma Service Station Shop, gun-pointed a cashier and ordered everyone in the shop to lie down on the floor.

Maikudumu said one of them went behind the counter and pulled out N.dollars 3 000 from the till, MTC recharge vouchers to the value of N.dollars 600 and three cell phones.

The senior police officer said the total value of goods and cash they stole at the shop is N.dollars 8 400.

Police investigations continue.
