Tigers Beat Ramblers to Go Three Points Clear

Tigers gave a great performance to beat Ramblers 3-1 and move three points clear of Black Africa at the top of the NPL log.

Absalom Iimbondi opened Tigers’ account on 30m but Donovan Swartz equalised 6m later as the teams went into the break deadlocked at 1-1.

Tigers however stepped up a gear and the impressive Iimbondi scored his second before substitute Petrus Naftalie sealed their victory with a third goal.

Tigers came out firing and Protasius Kabwe missed a sitter early on when he shot wide with an open goal gaping.

Panduleni Nekundi came close, heading and shooting wide in quick succession, while Iimbondi was making his presence felt with swift attacks down the right wing.

Tigers’ pressure told on 30m when Iimbondi scored a great goal, winning the ball on the right wing, cutting inside and shooting into the net from an acute angle.

Ramblers however soon struck back when they won a freekick 6m later, and an unmarked Donovan Swartz volleyed home at the far post.

In an action packed second half with attacks and counterattacks by both sides, Swartz came close early on for Ramblers, while a cracking shot by Iimbondi flew over the bar.

Iimbondi gave Tigers the lead on 55m when he received the ball in a bit of space and unleashed a 30m shot that hit the back of the net.

Tigers continued to attack with Panduleni Nekundi heading over from a corner, while Benson Shilongo shot wide from another corner.

Petrus Naftalie made it 3-1 on 72m when he initiated a quick counterattack, crossed to Nekundi and then steered home Nekundi’s centre into the box.

Ramblers substitute Alfred Ndyenge came close with a late free kick that hit the bar, but Tigers held on for a decisive victory.
