Toys, Smiles and Santa On a Motorcycle

Engines roared and hearts delighted this past Saturday when the Live to Ride Motorcycle Club hosted their annual Toy Run at Vintage Bar amp Grill in Olympia.

Biker brothers and sisters from various clubs all over Namibia and all walks of life came together and opened their hearts and wallets to bring a memorable day of joy and treats to some less fortunate children by giving them the VIP treatment, biker style.

“The objective of this event is to generate funds, clothing, non-perishables, etc. in order to assist some of the underprivileged children in Namibia and also to provide an unforgettable festive experience!” said Heidi Camarate de Campos-Smit, Live to Ride MCC PRO.

The big-hearted bikers gathered at Bike amp Quad Clinic from 09h00 on Saturday morning with bikes that were completely decorated with all sorts of toys for the occasion. They then left on a roaring mass ride to Vintage Bar amp Grill in Olympia where the children were waiting in anticipation for the festivities to begin.

There they enjoyed a fun-filled family event with live music, a huge waterslide, a spray-a-thon station to help raise cancer awareness and funds for the Cancer Association as well as a mechanical bull for the brave to ride.

“There were 35 children from the Helping Hands organisation who were our VIP guests for the day. The highlight of their day was when to Santa Clause arrived on a bright blue BMW motorcycle and handed out personalised gifts,” she added.

Each child from the chosen organisation provided a wish list and they received almost everything that was mentioned on the said wish list.

“They were all very impressed by the fact that Santa Clause is also a biker,” she joked.

Making it all possible were the corporate sponsors namely Hollard Namibia, Namib Mills, Joker’s Pizzeria amp Sports Bar and numerous overwhelmingly generous donations from bikers and the general public.

“These contributions enable us to provide an occasion resulting in a joyous, happy childhood memories that every child deserves to have! Each and every contribution is highly appreciated and valued and will once again warm the hearts and feed many less fortunate children,” de Campos-Smit added.

“It is on their behalf that we, Live to Ride MCC Windhoek, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making the Toy Run possible and such a successful event!” she concluded.
