FNB Namibia has appointed Garth Kleintjes to lead its IT team as Chief Information Officer, effective 1 May.

Kleintjes joined FNB in June 2005 as Manager IT Operations and has worked in various senior positions at the bank. He holds a Diploma in IT and several other specialist IT qualifications and is currently studying with the University of Lincoln.

Standard Bank Namibia has appointed Elke Mouton as Team Leader of Specialised Recoveries.

Mouton has been working for the bank for nine years. She is currently completing her B.Comm. Marketing degree at the Polytechnic of Namibia.

Chairman of Ohorongo Cement, Gerhard Hirth, has been reelected as President of the German Cement Works Associations’ in Berlin. Hirth has been president of the association since 2005. Hirth (64), who has a degree in engineering management, began his career in the cement industry in 1976 at Dyckerhoff AG and continued at the Westphalian Anneliese Zement AG. He has managed the Schwenk Group in Ulm since 2000.

Bernhard Kanyemba has been appointed as Head of Valuations at Standard Bank. Kanyemba previously worked as Deputy Valuer General in the Directorate of Valuation and Estate Management at the Ministry of Lands and Resettlement.

Ian Leyenaar, CEO of FNB Namibia Group, has assumed the responsibility as chairman of the Bankers Association of Namibia. This position rotates annually among the CEOs of the five commercial banks.
