Two baby boys beaten to death with sticks by a man at Eengonyo village

WINDHOEK: Two baby boys were beaten to death with sticks by a 25-year-old man at the Eengonyo village in the Eenhana Constituency of the Ohangwena Region yesterday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson Slogan Matheus said during a media briefing today, the suspect has a history of mental illness.

The incident took place at about 16h00.

The deceased were identified as 18-month-old Timoteus Nghiimbihafo Lungameni and Maadi-ovanu Fillipus, 19 months.

He handed himself over to the Police at Eenhana, and informed the police officers on duty that he was told by a ghost in his head to kill two people, and he did.

He is currently in police custody, and is due to appear in the Eenhana Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

WINDHOEK; A Chinese-run pawn shop along Werner List Street in the capital was robbed yesterday.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Sergeant Slogan Matheus told the media today that the shop owner, whose name is still not known, and two male friends were tied up with ropes inside the shop by the robbers.

The three male suspects then took N.dollars 30 000 and US dollars 200 cash, and fled the scene in a vehicle.

Matheus said all suspects are still at large, and no injuries were sustained by any of the victims.

In a separate incident, two suspects broke into an office at the Auas Hotel next to Maruea Mall in the capital today at about 03h00.

They gained entry to the building after breaking open an office window, and stole N.dollars 20 000.

A security officer was shot during the robbery, and is currently in the Katutura Intermediate Hospital.
