Two Dead Babies Found At Oshakati

THE bodies of two baby girls were found dumped at Oshakati in the Oshana Region yesterday.

One of the babies’ bodies was found in a blue bag between Oshakati Primary School and the Mwadhina gwaNembenge Senior Secondary School in Oshakati West yesterday.

The other body was found in a toilet at the Oshakati State Hospital and is believed to have been dumped there during the weekend.

Oshana Police Regional Commander Commissioner Ndahangwapo Kashihakumwa told The Namibian that they received a report from some members of the public about the baby that was dumped in Oshakati West and went to investigate.

Kashihakumwa said they are calling on the members of the public to assist in tracing the baby’s mother.

Confirming the discovery of the body at the hospital, Oshana Police Liaison Officer Sergeant Thomas Aiyambo told The Namibian that they suspect the baby was dumped over the weekend.

In both cases, the mothers are yet to be arrested, and the police are calling on the public to assist in identifying the culprits.

“What is really going on? You find men killing women or each other, and then you find women killing their babies. What is wrong with our people?” a concerned Oshakati resident asked yesterday.
