Two die in road crash near Omuthiya

ONGWEDIVA; Two men died and six others were injured in a related road crash on the Oshivelo-Ondangwa main road on Sunday, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshikoto Region have reported.

Deputy commander of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshikoto Region, Deputy Commissioner William Peter said the deceased were traveling in a Toyota VVTI pick-up registered as N8866T.

The police identified the deceased as Petrus Valomboleni Nghipuuma, 26, and the driver, the 33-year-old Josef Iifo.

The two died on the spot after their vehicle hit a donkey, overturned, rolled over and hit two persons who were sitting in front of a nearby bar.

These two persons – Ndinelao Ndjekela and Magdalena Nambulu – were injured.

“After a few minutes, another vehicle, a silver Nissan sedan which was travelling from the same direction, ran over the same donkey and also overturned,” Peter explained.

That Nissan sedan also rolled until it came to a standstill in front of the same bar.

The driver of the Nissan sedan has been identified as 34-year-old Diina Muinye and her passengers Jeremia Uutoni, six months old, Johanna Neema, 26, Rauna Nelodo, 23, and Johannes Uutoni (age unknown).

Peter said all four passengers from the said sedan sustained light injuries.

The next of kin of the deceased have already been informed.
