Two suspects arrested in Beukes murder case

INDHOEK: Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of 60-year-old Abraham Jakobus Beukes.

Beukes’ body was found by family members in the bushes at Farm Kalkpan, about 45 kilometres from Rehoboth on Saturday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s spokesperson, Inspector Stephanus Nuuyi told a media briefing earlier on Sunday that the deceased’s family members discovered Beukes dead, with his head partially decapitated.

The police officers went to the nearest police station in Rehoboth to look for an ambulance to take the body to the mortuary and left the body with the family members at the scene, covered with a blanket,”he said.

When the police returned to the scene, someone had, however, removed the head.

Meanwhile, he told Nampa in an interview today that two farmworkers from Farm Kalkpan were arrested on Monday.

The suspected murderers are Jonas Petrus, 50, and 53-year-old Sydney Jonathan.

They appeared in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today on charges of murder, violating a dead body and defeating the course of justice.
