Unstoppable Otjozondjupa Demolish Hardap

Otjozondjupa Region, the 2013 winners of The Namibian Newspaper Cup came out all guns blazing to beat Hardap Region 4 – 0.

Deon Gariseb scored the opening goal early in the first half. This early goal seemed to have a demoralising effect on the southerners who already lost 2 – 0 to Omusati earlier in the day. Gariseb’s teammate, Glen Kamutjete went further to add another goal to the tally.

The defending champions left nothing to chance as they mesmerised with their display of great footwork and quick passes. They had the crowd in raptures with their unstoppable runs.

The Otjozondjupa midfield made sure that their work was done by providing the strikers with enough opportunities to find the net in the first half which ended with them well on top.

Early in the second half, Roberto Rugam from Otjozondjupa was send off for shirt pulling but that did not dampen his team’s spirits as they came out even ger to add two more goals from Kamutjete, giving him the first hat trick of this year’s tournament.

He raced passed the defence on both occasions leaving the defenders from Hardap Region trailing behind him. The speedy striker relentlessly attacked the hapless Hardap and his perseverance earned him the man of the match prize.

Otjozondjupa showed no mercy to the struggling Hardap Region who had only a few chances to score but Otjozondjupa’s defence was not at all moved by their attempts.

The boys from central Namibia showed with that display that they are champions for a reason and that it will be difficult for any team to wrestle their title off them.
