Volleyball League Third Round

The Bank Windhoek National Volleyball League continued last weekend with the women’s games played in Windhoek and the men’s games in Grootfontein.

In the women’s category, the NDF team beat Unam by 3 sets to 0. This time Unam did not show the ladies in uniform their usual game as some of their players were missing on the court. Players like Natasha du Plooy, were absent from the court which made it easier for the defence ladies to win all the sets. The final results were NDF vs Unam 3:0 (25:14, 25:20 and 25:22).

The second and third games that were supposed to take place between Poly and Oshikoto Police, and Unam and Oshikoto Police respectively, did not take place, as the police team did not turn up due to transport problems. As a result, they lost both games 3-0 and 25-0 in all six sets.

The last game of the day saw the NDF women again winning their match against Poly 3-0 (25:10 25:18, 25:16).

In the men’s category, the student team from Unam suffered a double blow after losing both their weekend games against DTS and Eleven Warriors Volleyball Club.

DTS were on top of their game as they won both their matches.

The double blow to Unam was however a surprise after they performed well during their last matches against Khomas Nampol at the SKW sport field.

All three matches this weekend in Grootfontein were very closely contested as all games went up to the fifth set.

The full results for the Men’s league were as follow:

Unam vs EWVC – 2-3 (23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 13-15)

EWVC vs DTS – 2-3 (25-12, 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 7-15)

DTS vs Unam – 3-2 (28-26, 25-23, 19-25, 16-25, 15-10)

The next matches in the Bank Windhoek National Volleyball league will be played next weekend at the DTS Sport Fields in Olympia.
