WAD organization will celebrate 20th anniversary this month

WINDHOEK: The Women’s Action for Development (WAD) organisation will celebrate its 20th anniversary later this month.

They are planning to hold a gala dinner in the capital on 18 July, with President Hifikepunye Pohamba expected to be the keynote speaker.

A media statement issued by WAD Executive Director Veronica de Klerk yesterday said the gala dinner will be attended by approximately 400 people, which will include Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, governors, church leaders, representatives of educational authorities and the business sector as well as WAD’s rural trainers.

During the gala dinner, Pohamba will officially launch a documentary reflecting on the main developmental programmes of the organisation over the past 20 years, which WAD hopes to make available to other countries.

It reflects on the organisation’s projects, graduation ceremonies and groundbreaking events, amongst others.

The Head of State will also launch a publication which contains selected speeches delivered by the WAD Executive Director over the past 20 years to inspire and motivate community development students and social workers, as well as women hoping to access the political and private sectors.
