Wanderers too strong for Suburbs

WINDHOEK: Premier rugby side Wanderers thrashed Western Suburbs 35-6 in their First National Bank (FNB)-sponsored derby at the Wanderers field yesterday.

Wanderers opened the scoring with a penalty by Johan Tromp in the 10th minute of the game, and Suburbs levelled the score 10 minutes later with Justin Nel also converting a penalty for his side to make it 3-all.

Wanders led 8-6 at half-time, and continued the lead until the final whistle.

Speaking to Nampa after the game, winning coach Jacobus Paulus (JP) Nel said he was pleased with the results after a tough week of preparation for the game.

Suburbs’ manager Henry Coetzee said a red card was their down fall, while his players’ discipline was also to blame.
