Weekend Triple Header in Biest Cup

With their league title aspirations fading at an alarming speed following a string of indifferent performances of late, Katutura glamour football club African Stars head into the quarterfinals of the lucrative Biest Cup looking for nothing other than a comprehensive victory against lower division opponents Mountain Rangers.

Woody Jacobs’ misfiring soldiers are clear favourites to reach the semifinals of the knockout tourney at the expense of lowly Rangers, but complacency could costs them dearly when they trot onto the field in the second of a triple header at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek tomorrow afternoon. In the first of only two all-Premiership clashes, Rundu based outfit United Stars confront Tigers at 15h00, while Black Africa entertain Tura Magic in the final fixture at 19h00. Both Tigers and Black Africa are fighting on two fronts with one eye fixed on the coveted MTC Premiership league title and this could lead to a potential confrontation in the semifinals of the tourney, with winnable fixtures awaiting the two Katutura giants in the quarterfinals.

In mid-week action, Jan Vleermuis and Lesley So-Oabeb netted a goal apiece on either side of play to give newly promoted Citizens a place in the semifinals of the Biest Cup aftee despatching Kaizen Football Academy (KFA) in the quarterfinals at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. Citizens midfielder Ronald Chari was deservedly voted man of the match and walked away with a handsome N$2 000. Tickets for tomorrow’s matches are available at all Computicket outlets at Checkers, Shoprite and can also be obtained at Football House in Katutura for N$30 each.
