Young woman stabbed three times in Goreagab

A 21-year-old woman died in the Katutura State Hospital on Wednesday after she was hit by a car the previous evening.

The incident happened at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Hans Uirab Street in Katutura at around 22h45.

The vehicle is a dark-blue Toyota pick-up.

The spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Pendukeni Haikali told Nampa here on Friday that the victim was hit while attempting to cross the road.

“It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle drove away after realising that a person had been hit,” Haikali said.

The victim was taken to the Katutura hospital but died at about 03h00 the following day.

The deceased was identified as Ndeap Ndeshihala Maurisius, 21.

Her next of kin have been informed.

A case of culpable homicide was opened at the Katutura Police Station, and further police investigations continue.

In an unrelated incident, an 18-year-old woman was stabbed three times by her boyfriend in the Goreagab residential area at about 23h00 on Thursday.

The incident happened at a bar in that area.

“The victim was stabbed in the head, breast and on her right thigh when the quarrel intensified,” Haikali said.

The victim, identified as Sabina Absalon, was admitted in the Katutura hospital in a critical condition.

Haikali said the suspect is known to the police, but has not been arrested yet.
