Youth Forum calls for establishment of more vocational training centers so that more young people can be trained

OSHAKATI: The Oshana Regional Youth Forum has called for the establishment of more vocational training centers around the country so that more young people can be trained.

Chairperson of the Oshana Regional Youth Forum, Efraim Nekongo made the call on behalf of his forum whilst addressing members of the media at Oshakati yesterday.

Nekongo noted that the existing vocational training centres are unable to absorb many of the youngsters who are in need of vocational education.

Vocational training centres such as the Valombola Vocational Training Centre at Ongwediva should be able to accommodate at least 1 000 students per annum, he said.

The forum believes unemployment would be reduced in the country if more young people are given vocational education as they would be empowered to contribute to the development of the country.

Nekongo at the same time announced that members of his forum are engaged in various agricultural projects around the region.
