Zimbabwean shot and wounded in Katutura

WINDHOEK: A 36-year-old Zimbabwean national was allegedly shot and wounded at a bar in Katutura last Wednesday.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Inspector Slogan Matheus told a media briefing here Sunday afternoon that the incident took place at Bar Number Six in the Oshandumbala location.

According to the police, there was no quarrel or physical fight between the victim and the suspect, who was in the company of three other men.

The suspect fled the scene shortly after the shooting.

In a separate incident, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a taxi driver Saturday between 22h00 and 03h00 in a field near the China Town complex in Windhoek’s Northern Industrial area.

It is alleged that the victim stopped the taxi near Government Office Park and asked the driver to drop her at her residence in Katutura’s OWambo location.

Instead of taking the woman home, the taxi driver allegedly drove her to a bushy uninhabited area and raped her twice.

He also beat the woman with his fists in the face before fleeing the scene.

Police investigations continue.
