A donation of 442 new chairs and 100 tables to the Karundu Primary School is expected to drastically reduce pressure on learners

A donation of 442 new chairs and 100 tables to the Karundu Primary School (PS) at Otjiwarongo yesterday is expected to drastically reduce pressure on learners who have been sharing chairs and desks at the school.

The chairs and desks are worth more than N.dollars 250 000 and were donated by the Otjikoto B2Gold Mine situated about 70 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo.

School principal, Julia Chaka, at the event said learners at her school have been sharing chairs and tables for nearly three years now due to the high enrolment rate.

The newly donated items were on Wednesday kept temporarily in one classroom as the school management will still have to sit and allocate them to each classroom, Chaka said.

The school has a total of 1 387 learners from pre-primary to Grade 7 this year, with a staff complement of 47, including administration staff.
