About 150 sheep stolen at farms near Aroab

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Aroab in the ||Kharas Region is investigating a case of stock theft after about 150 sheep were allegedly stolen from two farms in the area.

NamPol acting crime investigations coordinator for ||Kharas, Chief Inspector Douglas Hanse told Nampa on Sunday that the sheep were allegedly stolen from Klipdam and Kotzetal Unit 2 in the Aroab district between March and 09 June 2021.

Hanse said the stolen Dorper and Damara mix breed sheep are valued at N.dollars 225 000.

“The suspects in this case are not known, no arrest has been made yet and no sheep have been recovered and police investigation continues,” added Hanse.

Meanwhile at Keetmanshoop on Saturday, two people escaped with slight injuries while another was seriously injured after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned.

It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle was driving at a high speed and when he wanted to overtake another vehicle, lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.

The incident occurred Saturday around 18h15 in the Soek en Kry residential area.

“The driver lost control over the vehicle, the vehicle left the road and started rolling through the fence to a house, the vehicle came to standstill in front of the kitchen door. The 30-year-old driver was seriously injured as he was thrown out of the vehicle and landed on the roof of the house,” said Hanse.

He said the two passengers aged 35 and 33, who were slightly injured, and the driver were taken to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
