Herat: Afghanistan and Turkmenistan have signed an agreement to jointly develop and invest in the expansion of Torghundi Port in western Afghanistan’s Herat province, aimed at boosting regional trade and improving rail connectivity, the Afghan Ministry of Public Works announced.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the project includes the design, construction, and activation of warehouses and logistics facilities at the Torghundi dry port, said the ministry in a statement. The initiative is funded by Turkmenistan and will be implemented in accordance with the respective laws of both countries.
