An alleged break-in at the Swakopmund Namibian Traffic Information System office led to the theft of in cash

An alleged break-in at the Swakopmund Namibian Traffic Information System (NaTIS) office led to the theft of N.dollars 70 297 in cash.

The incident, according to the Namibian Police Force's Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu took place between 23h00 on Tuesday and 04h00 on Wednesday.

He told Nampa in an interview today that the unknown suspects allegedly unlawfully and intentionally removed the window glass from one of the offices, through which they gained entrance into the building, cutting the safe open with a cutting torch and taking the money.

No money has been recovered yet and no arrests have been made in connection to the robbery.

A case of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft is being investigated by the police.
