Calai – The governor of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, said friendship and cooperation relations between Angola and Namibia are excellent and should be increasingly strengthened.

The governor made this statement on Tuesday in the town of Calai, during a meeting that brought together the governors of Cuando Cubango (Angola), José Martins, and of East Okavango (Namibia), Bonifasius Wakudumo, where they analysed the current security situation at the border between the municipality of Calai and the town of Rundu.

The Angolan governor acknowledged that there was a good atmosphere of cooperation between the two governments, which share a vast land and river border, through the municipalities of Calai, Cuangar and Dirico.

The governor of Cuando Cubango defended the need for the solution of specific issues that concern the life of the populations, through a meeting of consultation between the two governments.

In his turn, the governor of East Okavango, Bonifasius Wakudumo, congratulated the administration of Calai for the celebration of its 60 years of existence, since it became a town, which is marked this Thursday, May 12.

The official noted that Angola and Namibia have a very broad historical path, from the independence of Angola, in 1975, to the liberation of Namibia, in 1990.
