Angolan man arrested at Omahenene village for alleged rape

A 38-year-old Angolan national is expected to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl.

A weekend crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Sunday said the incident happened on Friday at Ombepo residential area at Omahenene village in the Omusati Region.

“It is alleged that the suspect called the victim inside the bathroom, in the victim’s father house, removed her underwear and raped her,” said the report.

At Rehoboth in the Hardap Region on Friday night, it is alleged that A 30-year-old man overpowered and raped a 39-year-old woman in the Block E residential area at the town.

The incident happened in the victim’s sleeping room.

“The victim managed to rescue herself by hitting the suspect with an object on his head, causing an open wound. The suspect managed to run away but was later arrested when he went to seek medical attention at the hospital,” adds the report.

Meanwhile, a 49-year-old woman was allegedly raped and robbed of N.dollars 5 000 in cash by two male suspects at Windhoek’s Havana informal settlement.

‘The incident occurred on Saturday morning around 04h00 when the victim who was alone at home was allegedly raped by two assailants who had a panga and a knife. They allegedly took turns to rape her and walked away with the money afterwards,” it said.

No arrest has been made yet.

Police investigations into all the matters continue.
