AR branches out activism representation to regions

The Affirmative Reposition (AR) movement has diversified its activism representation to all 14 regions through a newly adopted reorganisation, institutionalisation and formalisation (RIF) programme earmarked to be assembled in November 2022.

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, AR’s activist-in-chief, Dr Job Amupanda, said the shift seeks to respond to the growth and desired structured movement from the community, district, regional, and national level through the Interim National Activists Council (INAC), which is the highest decision-making body as contained in its revolutionary guideline and draft constitution released in January 2021.

Amupanda explained that many Namibians have lost hope in the current leadership and tend to AR for answers, stressing that the shift thus ensures that the movement takes charge of its activities in the regions through the governance framework as stipulated in the movement’s interim governance guidelines.

“Our movement remains a critical body of opinion, direction and action in the Namibian society. Namibians equally look up to the AR movement for direction, particularly on complex national matters where no one is able to answer. Undoubtedly, we planted several seeds of inspiration in our society over the years and to respond to the growth of our movement, it is clear that the organisational methods that have carried us over the years are no longer sufficient. More is demanded of us in 2022 than in 2018,” he said.

Amupanda explained that the assembly earmarked for Otavi in the Otjozondjupa region will see the implementation of the RIF programme as well as the adaptation of the AR constitution, adding that each region will be led by the Interim Regional Activists Council (IRAC) that will take charge of all AR activities in their respective regions.

“Our values and ideologies remain sacrosanct in our work, the organisational infrastructures that carried us through require expansion. RIF is an important programme of our movement, which requires all of us to keep our eyes on the ball and bring RIF to meet its intended objectives,” he noted.
