Aussenkehr police searching for body of man who drowned

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Aussenkehr in the ||Kharas Region are busy searching for the body of a 24-year-old man who drowned in the Orange River on Saturday.

NamPol ||Kharas crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Sunday that the man who has been identified as Richard Rynold Titus was with his brother and friends when he allegedly drowned.

The incident happened on Saturday around 13h30 at the grape farm.

'The deceased, his brother and other friends went swimming toward South Africa, the deceased was left behind and when he got tired he drowned however his body has not been retrieved and the search continue,' said Mubebo.

The deceased next of kin has been informed.

Meanwhile police at Rosh Pinah has opened a case of rape against a 41-year-old man after he allegedly raped his 14-year-old daughter.

Mubebo said the incident happened on Wednesday mid-night at the mining town.

'It is alleged that the suspect had sexual intercourse his his biological daughter and the suspect is arrested,' he added.

Police investigations in both matters continue.
