Melbourne: The Australia-China Economic Trade and Investment Expo (ACETIE) 2025 opened here on Thursday, focusing on new-quality productive forces and aiming to create new business opportunities through exhibitions and exchanges.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian emphasized that the economic structures of China and Australia are highly complementary, and mutually-beneficial cooperation is the defining feature of the relations between the two countries. Currently, China is promoting the development of new-quality productive forces, while Australia has introduced the Future Made in Australia plan to accelerate the cultivation of local manufacturing capabilities, which is highly compatible with China’s development strategy, Xiao noted. He highlighted the potential for China and Australia to complement each other’s strengths, collaborate effectively, and jointly build green, secure, and sustainable future industrial chains.

Andrew Robb, former Australian minister of trade, investment and tourism, addressed the audience as the chair of the ACETIE Organizing Committee. Robb acknowledged China’s leadership in renewable energy, energy storage and distribution, and shipbuilding, and pointed out numerous areas where Australia could collaborate with, share, and benefit from China.

The three-day event, themed “new-quality productive forces benefiting the promising future of Australia and China,” is jointly organized by the Australia-China Business Council and the China Chamber of Commerce in Australia. It has attracted more than 100 exhibitors from both countries, with over 10,000 visitors expected to attend.
