Batubaja Combined School team gets soccer boots

The Batubaja Combined School situated a 110km from KatimaMulilo in the Zambezi Region on Thursday got a boost of soccer boots ahead of the Copa Coca Cola finals slated for Rehoboth from Friday to Saturday.

Standard Bank Namibia handed over a pair of 16 soccer boots to the pupil who won the regional Copa Coca Cola championships that were held the Zambezi Region.

Rehoboth High School will host the national finals of the Copa Coca-Cola Under-15 boys football tournament, which will see 14 football teams representing their respective regions.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Standard Bank Namibia Public Relations and Communication manager, IsackHamata said because of humanity they decided to take care of the school from the Zambezi region.

Tomorrow the finals will be played in Rehoboth and we were told you played your regional tournament barefoot but you won that tournament and we saw it was humane for us to assist you with soccer boots ahead of the finals which starts tomorrow, he said.

He added that the money value for the boots is small compared to the significance this contribution will make to this young footballers' lives.

SimasikuObert the Head of Department at Batubaja Combined School told the media that the donation of soccer boots and bags is a great gesture from the banks side and a good motivation for them ahead of the tournament.

The participating schools expected to showcase their skills this weekend is Mariental High School (HS), A Shipena, Kunene (combined team), Wennie du Plessis, John Pandeni Combined School (CS), Lordsville CS, Tutaleni HS, Neyuva Senior Secondary (SS), Eenhana CS, Tsumeb SS, Otjozondjupa (combined team), Mupini CS, Ongwediva Junior Secondary School and Batubaja CS.
