The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) have reported that the lifeless body of a man was discovered floating in a riverbed in Windhoek on Tuesday morning.

NamPol Khomas commander Ismael Basson confirmed that the man who was discovered around 11h00 was reported missing last week Friday. He was discovered by a member of the public who was passing by the riverbed and alerted the police.

Basson said the man was identified by family members as 28-year-old Nakanyala Joseph Kalitheni after the family visited the police mortuary later on the day.

In a separate incident, NamPol spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi said there is still no arrest made in connection with the death of a man who was found in a sewer hole, also in a riverbed in Katutura.

It is alleged that the body was discovered by City of Windhoek employees who were fixing the sewage pipe after it was reported to be blocked last week.

Police investigations in both maters continue.
