Bowling event to raise funds for cancer

ONGWEDIVA: The Eeshoke Chula Chula Football Club (FC) beat Further Fighters FC 2-1 to win the 2014 Ohangwena regional Bidvest Cup on Sunday.

The finals were held at the Ponhofi Senior Secondary School sports ground.

As the regional winners, Eeshoke Chula Chula became N.dollars 10 000 richer, while Further Fighters, as runners-up, took home N.dollars 5 000.

The Ohangwena regional winners of the 2013 Bidvest Namibia Cup competition, Omafo United FC, fell out in the semi-finals.

The vice-chairperson of the Namibia Football Association (NFA)’s executive committee in the Ohangwena Region, Sammy Mushelenga told Nampa on Monday that the competition went smoothly.

“All 12 football teams of our regional Second Division league participated in the regional Bidvest Cup competition as per the NFA’s instructions,” he added.

The 2014 Bidvest Namibia Cup was officially launched last month. It was previously known as the NFA Cup.

The tournament kicked off on 25 January with preliminary rounds, and these will be concluded with the final on 07 June 2014.
