The Brave Warriors are targeting to get three points in their third game against Malawi on Tuesday at the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) tournament currently underway in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
In an interview with the Namibia Football Association, which was availed to Nampa on Monday, Brave Warriors defender Ananias Gebhardt said they are taking each game very seriously. He said the game against Malawi on Tuesday is crucial because it will put them in a good position to qualify for the semi-finals, should they win it.
“We are taking it game by game and the game against Malawi we are going to try our best to get the maximum points. Victory is victory and it brings positive vibes to the camp, so if we keep winning as we did in our first two games, then the spirit in camp will be high, which will give us the desire to win more games,” said Gebhardt.
The team is currently top of Group B with six points after winning their two games against Senegal and Zimbabwe respectively. Namibia’s last group game will be against Mozambique on Wednesday.
Namibia won the tournament for the first and only time in 2015 after beating Mozambique in the final with Ricardo Mannetti at the helm. The tournament for this year is scheduled to take place from 06 until 18 July 2021.
