CAMPAIGN LAUNCHING MASS MARCHES AGAINST HIGH BREAD PRICE INCREASE IN SOUTH AFRICA

JOHANNESBURG, -- The high bread prices in South Africa have become a source of concern and protest as the Food Sovereignty Campaign grouping mobilises the masses to march against an increase in bread prices.

This week, the campaign kicked off with a smaller march as an example of what will happen on a larger scale if bread prices go any higher.

Food activist Xolisa Bangani says they demand that the South African government assist small scale farmers.

"The agricultural sector must support agri-ecology whereby we are farming not against nature but we are farming in line with nature so we can try to bring a solution to this climate change and this drought situation that we are in today."
