Capricorn Foundation recently pledged N.dollars 500 000 to the One Economy Foundation for the Project #BeFree Centre of Excellence, which was hosted during a gala dinner in the capital under the theme ‘We are One’.

The Capricorn Group recently published its annual Social Value Report, which shows that it invested N.dollars 15.4 million in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2022, through the Capricorn Foundation and the CSR activities of its subsidiaries.

In a press release issued on Monday, Marlize Horn, Executive Officer of the Capricorn Foundation, stated that the group is proud of its contributions to society.

She said by supporting the Project #BeFree Centre of Excellence, Capricorn Group is aligning their CSR vision of being an inspiring ‘Connector of Positive Change’ by creating economic value in a responsible way that creates long-term opportunities for advancing and improving the economic and social conditions in the communities in which they operate.

Horn said Capricorn Foundation which is funded by Bank Windhoek, Capricorn Asset Management and Entrepo, is the group’s primary vehicle for CSR activities.

“The Capricorn Foundation pledges to collaborate with like-minded organisations such as the One Economy Foundation to address issues in our communities and find long-term solutions. Capricorn Foundation’s contribution is designated for the Project #BeFree Centre of Excellence educational area,” she noted.

Horn added that there is a pressing need for an integrated protection system with adequate capacity and resources to prevent harm and respond to the needs of young people in a coordinated manner, and that the Project #BeFree centre will be a physical manifestation of the key learnings from the #BeFree engagements, providing a safe space for the youth.

“Young people and their parents will have access to professional services such as psychological support, legal and criminal justice system guidance, a full range of sexual and reproductive health services, skills development, and adolescent-friendly entertainment,” she explained.
