An unidentified man died in an accident some 80 kilometres outside Keetmanshoop on Monday when his vehicle collided with an oncoming truck.

The Namibian Police Force’s ||Kharas Regional Commander, Commissioner David Indongo, told Nampa on Monday that the accident occurred around 15h15 on the Keetmanshoop-Grünau B1 Road.

He said the deceased was headed from Karasburg towards Keetmanshoop in a small sedan, while the truck was driving in the direction of South Africa from Keetmanshoop.

“It is alleged that the truck was driving in the middle of the road, causing the head-on collision. The driver of the car died on the scene. The truck driver did not sustain any injuries but was traumatised,” said Indongo.

A case of culpable homicide was opened against the truck driver and police investigations continue.
