The Central North Regional Electricity Distributor (Cenored) and Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in areas of connectivity, vending and digitalization of electricity products.

The heads of both companies signed the MoU documents at Otjiwarongo on Thursday.

MTC Managing Director, Dr Licky Erastus, in his remarks, said since MTC customers are also Cenored’s clients, it is of paramount importance for these two companies to also forge a smart partnership, in making it easier for these customers to consume a variety of products, while using one platform.

Erastus further said that with the MTC’s digitalisation focus and its connectivity platforms, Cenored should be able to give flexible and convenient access to electricity to its clients at all times.

In doing this according to Erastus, it also helps Cenored to accelerate its electricity trust and usage to clients by allowing them to use a nationalised vending solution on MTC’s networks and digital platforms.

“Therefore, we are keenly looking forward to providing solutions to Cenored, mostly into an area of digital transformation and electricity industry,” said Erastus.

On his part, Cenored Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Robert Kahimise, also said it is an honour for his company to forge this partnership with MTC, as it is highly likely for Cenored to become sustainable as an organisation in relation to revenue generation.

“Our aim in the industry of electricity is to remain relevant. Therefore, by creating this synergy, we know it is a move in the right direction,” he said.
