Beijing: During the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, which concluded on Wednesday, China recorded approximately 2.43 billion cross-regional passenger trips, as announced by the Ministry of Transport on Thursday. This surge in travel activity was marked by a daily average of 304 million trips from October 1 to 8, reflecting a 6.3 percent increase compared to the previous year and setting a new record.
According to Namibia Press Agency, demand for various travel options such as small-group tours, self-driving trips, and family-friendly excursions remained strong, highlighting the robust holiday travel boom. China’s railways played a significant role during this period, accommodating 153.96 million passenger trips with a daily average of 19.24 million, which is a 2.6 percent increase from the previous year.
In addition to railways, waterway and civil aviation passenger volumes reached 11.66 million and 19.14 million, respectively. Road travel saw a remarkable rise, with passenger volume reaching 2.25 billion and a daily average of 281.05 million trips, marking a year-on-year increase of 6.6 percent.
