Chinese national drowns in Etaka Dam

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Omahenene in the Omusati Region have opened an inquest docket case after a 20-year-old Chinese national allegedly drowned in water canal there on Sunday.

Confirming the incident to Nampa on Monday, Inspector Linekela Shikongo of the NamPol's Public Relations Unit in the region said the Chinese young man drowned in the Etaka Dam in the Omahenene area while he was swimming.

He went there with others for a visit, Shikongo explained, adding that the deceased was employed at one of the Chinese business outlets at Outapi, the regional capital of Omusati.

According to Shikongo, his body is recovered and taken to Okahao NamPol mortuary where a post-mortem will be conducted.

The Police withheld the identity of the deceased on the grounds that his next of kin are yet to be informed of the death.
