Beijing: Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index experiencing a decline of 0.26 percent, settling at 3,860.5 points. Conversely, the Shenzhen Component Index posted gains, closing 0.63 percent higher at 13,005.77 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices reached 2.28 trillion yuan, equivalent to about 320.9 billion U.S. dollars. This marked a decrease from the previous trading day’s turnover of 2.52 trillion yuan. Stocks related to the textile machinery and auto manufacturing industries led the gains, while shares in ceramics and non-ferrous metals saw significant declines.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, showed a positive performance with a gain of 1.51 percent, ending the day at 3,066.18 points.
